How it all began

Love Ritual began in the simplest and most human way.

For years, I had been exploring ways couples could stay connected, not just when things felt difficult, but as an ongoing, intentional practice. Around the time Emil and I met, our relationship was moving quickly. We are full-time travelers and met on the road, and within just a few weeks, we went from traveling solo to living together.

It was beautiful. It was exciting. And yes, it was a big transition.

Because I had practiced structured relationship check-ins in past relationships, I felt a strong pull to bring something grounding into ours. I knew how powerful it could be to have a consistent space to stay emotionally in tune.

So naturally, I brought the idea to Emil.

Now, let me paint the picture. Emil is a very handsome and charming logical software engineer. Thoughtful, analytical, grounded. The kind of person who needs things to make sense. But he is also deeply open. Open to growth. Open to trying something new. Open to deepening our connection.

So… he said yes.

Our very first Love Ritual happened in a notebook we intentionally bought for this purpose. No app. No system. Just the two of us sitting together on the beach, a little curious and a little hopeful, moving through the prompts by hand.

And something about it just clicked.

We did it again the following week. And the next. And the next. For about three months, this became a steady rhythm in our relationship. A dedicated time to express gratitude, share what was real, align on life, and consciously choose each other again and again.

Then one day, Emil turned to me and said, “Wow… this is incredible. It’s making such an impact on our relationship. It would be so cool to digitize this and share it with people.”

And just like that, the seed of Love Ritual was planted.

What started as a simple weekly check-in in a notebook became one of the most grounding and connective habits in our relationship. And from that small, intentional beginning, Love Ritual began to grow.

What is Love Ritual?

Love Ritual is a guided weekly practice for couples who want to stay deeply connected, communicative, and intentional in their relationship.

At its core, Love Ritual creates a dedicated space to slow down together. To acknowledge what is working. To speak honestly about what is present. And to keep joy and forward momentum alive in your partnership.

Rather than waiting for tension to build, Love Ritual helps couples stay emotionally in tune week after week. Whether you are celebrating the good, navigating something tender, or dreaming up your next adventure, each check-in is designed to bring you closer.

The core four steps

1. Gratitudes

Start with the heart. Sharing gratitudes sets the emotional tone for the entire ritual. Partners take turns expressing genuine appreciation for one another, highlighting the moments that often go unnoticed in daily life.

Over time, this practice builds a culture of appreciation inside the relationship and helps both partners feel more seen and valued.

2. To-Dos

Teamwork makes the dream work. The To-Dos step keeps the practical side of life clear and collaborative. By aligning on shared responsibilities and upcoming tasks, couples stay organized and reduce the quiet buildup of stress or miscommunication.

This simple step helps the relationship feel like a true partnership.

3. Safe Space

Honesty deepens intimacy. Safe Space is where partners are invited to share openly about what is truly on their hearts or minds. One person speaks while the other listens fully, without interruption. Then the listening partner gently mirrors back what they heard, creating clarity and helping both people feel truly understood.

This structured moment of vulnerability builds trust, increases emotional safety, and allows small tensions to be addressed before they grow into larger disconnections.

4. Fun Stuff

Joy is relational glue. Fun Stuff is where you intentionally create something to look forward to together. From planning date nights to dreaming up future adventures, this step keeps playfulness and excitement woven into the relationship.

Because thriving couples do not just work through challenges, they also create joy on purpose.

Why make love a ritual?

Decades of relationship research show that couples who engage in clear, consistent, and emotionally attuned communication report higher relationship satisfaction and stronger emotional bonds.

Love Ritual brings these insights into a simple, repeatable weekly practice.

When couples return to this space consistently, they often experience:

  • Deeper emotional intimacy and understanding
  • Stronger communication with fewer misunderstandings
  • More mutual support and shared growth
  • Greater appreciation for one another
  • More joy and forward momentum as a couple

Love does not stay strong by accident. It stays strong through attention, intention, and care. And that is exactly what Love Ritual was designed to support.

Inviting your partner into Love Ritual

One of the most common questions we hear is “How do I invite my partner into this without it feeling forced?”

Partners often respond in three different ways.

1. The growth-minded partner

Some partners feel immediately excited. They already value personal development, communication tools, or intentional practices. For them, the invitation is easy. You can share your curiosity, explore the rituals together, and begin naturally. The practice becomes something you co-create.

2. The open-minded partner

Sometimes you may be the initiator of growth in the relationship, while your partner is open but not actively seeking it. In this case, frame the invitation around connection, not improvement.

You might say:

“I came across something that helps couples stay intentional and connected. I would love to try it together because our relationship matters to me.”

When partners feel they are joining you rather than being fixed, openness grows.

3. The hesitant partner

Occasionally, a partner may feel resistant or closed to the idea of doing a Love Ritual. This is more common than you might think. Often, hesitation is not about the ritual itself. It is about what the ritual might represent. Fear of being criticized. Fear of emotional intensity. Fear that something is wrong in the relationship.

When inviting a hesitant partner, reassurance and tone matter more than perfect wording. It can help to lead with curiosity and care rather than urgency or pressure.

You might say:

“I came across this really cool company that helps couples stay connected and intentional. It made me think of us, and I’d love to try it together sometime.”

Or:

“This isn’t about fixing anything. I actually feel really good about us. I just love the idea of having intentional time to stay close.”

Or:

“I’ve been craving a little more uninterrupted time together, and this felt like a sweet way to do that.”

Or, if your partner responds well to practical framing:

“It’s basically a simple weekly check-in that helps couples communicate more clearly and stay on the same team.”

You can also gently name the benefits that matter most to your partner:

  • More ease in communication
  • More intentional time together
  • More clarity around logistics and plans
  • More play and connection during busy seasons

Sometimes it helps to start small. A full check-in can feel like a big step, but beginning with a short gratitude exchange or the 96-second ritual often feels much more approachable.

The 96-second ritual is a simple daily micro-connection practice designed to help couples stay emotionally and physically in tune, even during busy seasons. In person, it includes six seconds of kissing, thirty seconds of hugging, and one minute of eye gazing.

It is short, structured, and surprisingly powerful. Many couples love that it feels a bit gamified. Instead of wondering how to reconnect, you have a clear, bite-sized ritual you can actually follow through on. Over time, these small moments of intentional connection can significantly increase feelings of closeness, safety, and intimacy.

Starting small creates safety. And safety is what allows deeper practices to unfold naturally.

The heart of Love Ritual

At its core, Love Ritual is about choosing each other on purpose. It is about creating space to appreciate, to express, to repair, to dream, and to stay aligned.

Love does not stay alive on feelings alone. It stays alive through attention. Through ritual. Through intention.

That is why Love Ritual exists.

Our mission is simple: we are here to make love a ritual by giving couples the tools, structure, and support to stay emotionally connected and aligned over time.

Because when love is practiced consistently, connection stops feeling accidental and starts becoming intentional.
